IVF SUCCESS RATES FOR THE YEAR 2003

In 2003, overall success rates were higher than the national average. Once again, our program’s philosophy to personal and individualized patient treatment was key to excellent pregnancy results and great patient satisfaction.

With close to 160 cycles treatment cycles started, we continued to enjoy high success rates as shown in Graph 1 below. The cycle completion rate was 88.5% (139 cycles with embryo transfers completed out of 157 cycles started).

Graph 1 below depicts viable (delivered and ongoing) pregnancy rates per embryo transfer for each age and/or treatment group. The fractions below each bar represent the number of treatment cycles that had an embryo transfer vs. the number of cycles started.

For the past 3 years now, our egg donation program has attained a solid 50% pregnancy rate, with results in 2003 reaching a remarkable 65% viable pregnancy rate. In addition, our embryo cryopreservation program achieved a viable pregnancy rate of 33.3%.

These results are the product of a highly individualized, patient friendly team approach to infertility therapy. We have facilitated access to treatment by offering donor egg sharing and thereby reducing costs.

A very rewarding fact for 2003 is that most pregnancies were singleton pregnancies with literally no triplets or quadruplets. At CARE-LIFE we strive for providing couples with healthy and happy outcome (See bar Graph 2 below).

Comparing centers success rates may not be meaningful because patient medical characteristics and treatment approaches may vary from clinic to clinic.
