Mick Abaé, M.D.

Dr. Abaé is a Board-Certified Reproductive Endocrinologist who completed medical school at New York Medical College, followed by residency in Obstetrics & Gynecology at St. Vincent’s Hospital, NY, NY, and a three-year fellowship in Reproductive Endocrinology at the University of Vermont.

After spending 2 years as an Assistant Clinical Professor in the Division of Reproductive Endocrinology at the University of Miami School of Medicine, he left in 1993 to found the Center for Advanced Reproductive Endocrinology (CARE) in Plantation, and establish the standard for personalized patient care in the South Florida infertility community. In August 1998, he founded the Laboratory for Implantation, Fertilization, & Embryology (L.I.F.E.) in order to provide the highest quality of andrology & embryology services to his patients.

Dr. Abaé is a member of the American Society for Reproductive Medicine (ASRM) and the Florida Society of Reproductive Endocrinologists. He has continued to maintain an active research program in areas such as endometriosis, laparoscopic surgery, and male factor infertility, and has been selected to present the results of this work at the annual conferences of the ASRM and the International Endometriosis Society, among others. Dr. Abaé remains committed to providing his patients with the latest developments in clinical and laboratory services, in a caring environment.



 Harold F. Rodriguez, D.V.M., Ph.D., H.C.L.D., E.L.D.


Dr. Rodriguez is a graduate of Louisiana State University and Texas A&M University, where he received his M.S. and Ph.D. in Reproductive Physiology and Embryology. He is board certified as a High Complexity Laboratory Director (American Board of Bioanalysis), with specialties in Human Clinical Andrology and Embryology.

As Director of the Assisted Reproduction Laboratories, Dr. Rodriguez oversees and is directly involved on a daily basis with the functioning of our Andrology and Embryology Laboratories. He brings well over 12 years of hands on technical experience and scientific knowledge in the assisted reproduction laboratory after working exclusively with oocytes, sperm and embryos of several species. He has been involved in various research studies looking at the reduction of multiple pregnancy rates after IVF, the development of human embryos to the blastocyst stage in various culture systems, and methods of assessing sperm quality.

Dr. Rodriguez was among the first embryologists to acquire experience with the culture, transfer and cryopreservation of Blastocyst stage embryos in the mid 90's; his skills and expertise as an Embryologist / Andrologist have been a key factor throughout a very successful career and have resulted in the conception of numerous babies for many couples worldwide. His expertise is on several areas, which include Intracytoplasmic sperm injection: ICSI, Laser Assisted Selective Assisted Hatching and Embryo Biopsy for Pre-implantation Genetic Diagnosis; in addition, In Vitro Fertilization and the In Vitro Culture of human oocytes and embryos to the blastocyst stage, the Cryopreservation and thawing of gametes and embryos, and the replacement of embryos back to the womb at the blastocyst and/or earlier developmental stages.

Dr. Rodriguez is also a voluntary laboratory inspector for the Reproductive Laboratory Accreditation Program (RELAP) offered by the College of American Pathologists (CAP), one of the major accreditation bodies for Assisted Reproduction Laboratories in the United States. On several occasions he has developed and presented the results of clinical trials at the annual meeting of the American Society for Reproductive Medicine (ASRM), an entity of which he is also an active member.

Paula Hart is a licensed Medical Technologist with over 15 years of hands on experience working in a clinical laboratory setting. Paula is in charge of Andrology Testing and Quality Control.
